Save on Energy: Energy Performance Program

IESO (Independent Electricity System Operator), Ontario · Save on Energy

OntarioElectricityIntake open · Deadline 2027-12-31Closes 31 Dec 2027

What it pays

$0.30/kWh for summer peak savings (June 1 – September 30, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT) and $0.08/kWh for non-summer-peak savings, paid annually for three years; rates doubled effective January 1, 2025

Deadline: Deadline 2027-12-31

A pay-for-performance program that pays for whole-facility electricity savings measured against a modelled baseline, rather than for a named piece of equipment, so operational and behavioural changes earn money alongside capital projects. Entry requires twelve months of hourly interval meter data per facility.

Who qualifies

Owners or operators of commercial, institutional or industrial facilities in Ontario who commit to three years of participation, at least five percent energy savings per facility within two years, and hold 12 months of hourly interval meter data for each facility.

Summarized from the official page. This is not advice; the provider decides.

Status note, as recorded

Verified open 2026-08-25, no waitlist or pause. The recorded deadline is the page's own gate on the money, quoted verbatim: "Three years of annual pay-for-performance incentives are available for applications approved by December 31, 2027"; note it is the APPROVAL date that must fall inside the window, so applications need to go in materially earlier. The entry requirement is twelve months of hourly interval data: a factory without it cannot apply, and the program's own portal then does baseline modelling and ongoing facility performance monitoring. Nearly every application on this list wants a measured figure that most plants do not have yet. Metering produces it, and we can help your team put the paperwork together around it.
