What it pays
Not a grant; a change in how global adjustment is billed. A Class A customer's global adjustment is set by its share of Ontario's five highest system demand hours in the 12-month base period, so the saving is a function of how far peak demand is cut, not a published figure.

Ontario's peak-shaving mechanism: eligible large electricity customers elect into Class A and are billed global adjustment on their contribution to the province's five peak demand hours over a May-to-April base period, instead of on total consumption. Managing the bill means predicting and curtailing on those five hours.
Who qualifies
Facilities with average monthly maximum hourly demand over 5 MW are Class A by default; 1–5 MW customers may opt in; manufacturing and industrial customers with NAICS codes beginning 31, 32, 33 or 1114 may opt in from greater than 500 kW.

Not funding, included because it is the single biggest electricity-cost lever available to a mid-size Ontario factory and it is unusable without interval metering and peak prediction. Election is ANNUAL and the window is narrow: eligible customers opt in (or, above 5 MW, opt out) by JUNE 15 for the base period that runs May 1 to April 30. The June 15, 2026 election for the 2026-27 base period has passed; the recorded deadline is the NEXT election, June 15, 2027. Existing Class A facilities keep their status unless the customer opts out. Governed by Ontario Regulation 429/04. The election date comes round every June.
